The Atlas Copco GA 132 is a fixed-speed oil-injected rotary screw compressor rated at 132 kW of installed motor power. Five factory versions cover working pressures from 5.5 bar to 14 bar. It sits in the GA 90+-160 range and suits plants whose air demand stays level across shifts. This page collects the complete technical data of the machine together with the design and service details that matter when selecting a compressor in this class.

Each unit ships as one pre-assembled package on an oil-containing frame, so no separate foundation is needed. The element, gear transmission, coolers, motor, and controller all sit inside a sound-reduced canopy. Every user connection is placed on the same side, and a phase sequence relay protects the compressor against reverse rotation as standard.

Capacity figures are measured according to ISO 1217, Annex C and E, Edition 4 (2009), at an absolute inlet pressure of 1 bar and an intake temperature of 20°C.Each pressure version is rated at its own reference point. The 8.5 bar version is rated at 7 bar, the 10 bar version at 9.5 bar. The 14 bar version is rated at 13.5 bar in the Standard build or 12.5 bar in the Full Feature build. Full Feature versions also carry their own working pressure ratings. These run from 5.3 bar (77 psig) on the 5.5 bar version up to 13.8 bar (200 psig) on the 14 bar version.

The standard package weighs 3375 kg and the Full Feature package 3768 kg. The A-weighted sound pressure level at the work station is 74 dB(A) at both supply frequencies.

Five Pressure Versions and the 14 Bar Build

Five factory versions let the GA 132 be matched to the actual working pressure of the installation instead of over-compressing and throttling the difference. The 5.5 bar and 7.5 bar builds serve general manufacturing and blowing applications. The 8.5 bar and 10 bar builds are the usual choices for plants running tools, actuators, and process equipment.

The 14 bar version extends the range to installations that genuinely need high pressure, such as certain molding, batching, and testing duties. It still delivers 300 l/s (636 cfm) at 50 Hz. Choosing the closest pressure match keeps the element inside its intended duty zone, which supports long element life and stable output.

Screw Element and Gear Transmission

Compression happens in a state-of-the-art screw element built around a patented asymmetric rotor profile. Carefully selected bearings keep wear low over thousands of running hours, and the element holds its output curve steadily year after year.

Drive reaches the element through a gear transmission that is totally enclosed and protected against dirt and dust. The gear arrangement transfers power with high efficiency and no coupling or slippage losses. A dedicated coupling absorbs the thrust load and adds reliability each time the compressor cycles between loading and unloading.

Air Purity Inside the Package

Oil carryover is controlled by a 3-step separation process that holds residual oil content in the compressed air below 3 ppm. An integrated water separator with an electronic drain removes 100% of the condensate dropping out after compression, so no separate separator has to be plumbed in at start-up.

Ahead of the element, a heavy duty intake filter captures 99.9% of dirt particles down to 3 microns. Because the fine filter then carries a much lighter dust load, its element lasts about twice as long without any loss of filtration efficiency. Full Feature builds add an integrated refrigerant dryer with a pressure dewpoint of 3°C/37°F, and the Saver Cycle Control stops the dryer whenever the compressor unloads or stops.

Elektronikon Control

The GA 132 is managed by the Elektronikon controller. A high resolution color display shows running conditions in plain readings, clear icons keep navigation quick, and the interface supports 31 languages. Warning indications, shutdown events, and maintenance scheduling are monitored continuously, with built-in remote control and Ethernet communication as standard.

For plants that want one point of supervision, the optional ES system controller watches the whole machine room. Dual pressure set-points and the Delayed Second Stop function keep the drive motor off whenever network pressure still holds, which trims energy use in low-demand periods. A mobile app extends monitoring to phones and tablets over the plant network.

Options for Demanding Sites

Several factory options adapt the GA 132 to harder conditions. A high ambient variant operates up to 55°C/131°F, modulation control is available for applications that need it, and the full option motor adds PT1000 thermal protection and anti-condensation heaters. SPM vibration monitoring can be fitted for sites that track machine condition continuously.

Heat leaves the package through separated oil and aftercoolers, and much of it can be put back to work. An integrated energy recovery system returns up to 94% of the shaft power as useful heat. The output is hot water at 85°C to 90°C (185°F to 194°F), ready for space heating, showers, or process duties. Simpler ducting-based recovery directs warmed cooling air toward workshops or storage areas, with louver flaps venting it outside when the season changes.

Where the GA 132 Fits

With five pressure versions and a 132 kW motor, the GA 132 covers metal working, mining support duties, power plant services, and general manufacturing. It is aimed at sites that draw a continuous baseline of compressed air. Installations that need more capacity can step up to the Atlas Copco GA 250 Oil-injected Air Compressor, which shares the same design platform at 250 kW.

GA 132 FAQ

Which pressure versions does the GA 132 come in?

At 50 Hz there are five versions: 5.5 bar, 7.5 bar, 8.5 bar, 10 bar, and 14 bar. At 60 Hz the versions carry ratings from 80 to 203 psig, all at 175 hp.

Does the GA 132 need a special foundation?

No. The package sits on an oil-containing frame, so a flat floor is enough and no separate foundation is required.

How loud is the GA 132?

The A-weighted sound pressure level at the work station is 74 dB(A) at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz.

What air quality can a Full Feature GA 132 deliver?

The integrated refrigerant dryer holds a pressure dewpoint of 3°C/37°F. With an added general purpose coalescing filter, the package reaches a 1 micron particle class and 0.1 ppm residual oil.

What happens to the condensate?

An integrated water separator with an electronic drain removes 100% of the condensate formed inside the package.

Can the heat from the GA 132 be reused?

Yes. Up to 94% of the shaft power can be recovered as hot water at 85°C to 90°C, or the warm cooling air can be ducted to heat adjacent spaces.

    Petr H –

Our shop runs the GA 132 on the 10 bar version feeding CNC machines and air blasts, and the discharge pressure stays steady through every shift. The gear transmission is quiet, and the whole package reads 74 dB(A) at the work station, so conversation nearby is never a problem. Weekly checks take minutes through the large doors, and the Elektronikon schedule has matched our servicing exactly.
