The Atlas Copco GA 200 is a fixed-speed oil-injected rotary screw compressor rated at 200 kW, offered in five factory versions covering working pressures from 5.5 bar to 14 bar. It sits in the middle of the GA 160+-250 family and is built for plants that run a steady, around-the-clock air demand. This page gathers the complete technical data of the machine together with the design, installation, and service details that matter when sizing a compressor in this class.
Every unit leaves the factory as a complete package. The compressor element, gear-driven transmission, cooling module, motor, and Elektronikon controller are mounted on one oil-containing frame inside a sound-reduced canopy. No separate foundation is required, and ducting can be routed with flexibility once the unit is in place.

Design for Continuous Industrial Duty
At the heart of the machine sits a screw element with a patented asymmetric rotor profile and carefully matched bearings. Wear stays low over the years, which is what allows thousands of these units to run around the world in demanding conditions.
Power reaches the element through a gear-driven transmission that is totally enclosed and shielded from dirt and dust. The gearing holds the screw element in its optimal working range and needs no maintenance in normal service. A Bowex coupling takes up the thrust load, protecting the drive train on long duty cycles.
The cooling module separates the oil cooler from the aftercooler for high efficiency, with axial fans driven by their own TEFC IP55 electric motors. The main motor is also TEFC IP55 with Class F insulation, keeps its temperature rise low, and runs continuously in ambient temperatures up to 46°C/115°F.

Installation and Everyday Service
An optimized loading/unloading valve holds a constant pressure in the network. The valve uses few moving parts and a solenoid valve for accurate control, so it needs virtually no attention between services.
Service work is planned around accessibility. All service points sit behind large opening doors, and a sliding mechanism gives direct access to the oil coolers. Consumables are selected for long lifetime, which stretches service intervals and keeps the work per visit short and predictable.
Air Treatment on Board
The integrated water separator with electronic drain removes all of the condensate formed inside the package, protecting downstream equipment from carryover. On the intake side, the air filter captures 99.9% of dirt particles above 3 μm, which halves the dust load reaching the fine filter and lets the filter element last longer without losing efficiency.
Plants that need dried air out of the box can specify the Full Feature build. In this version an ID refrigerant dryer is integrated into the package, with all wiring and piping assembled at the factory. The dryer holds a pressure dew point of 3°C/37°F and starts and stops together with the compressor, so no additional installation work is needed on site.

Elektronikon Control and Monitoring
The Elektronikon controller runs the machine and trims its energy use with integrated smart algorithms. A high-resolution color display shows operating conditions in plain readings, and the icon-based navigation keeps every setting within a few touches. The interface supports 31 languages, including character-based ones.
Warning indications, maintenance planning, and the online view of machine status all come standard. The controller communicates over Ethernet, and an Atlas Copco app for phones and tablets puts the compressed air system on a secured network for fingertip monitoring.
Recovering the Heat
Most of the electrical energy a compressor draws leaves the package as heat. The integrated recovery system on the GA 200 returns up to 94% of the shaft power in the form of hot water at 85°C to 90°C (185°F to 194°F), ready for space heating, showers, boilers, or process duties. The main heat exchanger is built into the machine, so connecting it to an existing water circuit is a modest task with a short payback period.
Where hot water is not the goal, ducting the warmed cooling air offers a simpler route. The airflow can be directed into workshops or warehouses for heating, and louver flaps vent it outdoors in warm seasons. A motorized, thermostatically controlled louver set regulates the flow automatically across the year.

Where the GA 200 Fits
Mining operations rely on the platform for maximum uptime in harsh conditions, backed by a support network that reaches remote sites. Energy sector users value the condensate handling that protects downstream equipment. Metal workshops take advantage of the quick installation and flexible ducting, while general industry runs machinery, maintenance tasks, cleaning, pneumatic tools, and shot-blasting on its air.
For plants that need more flow from the same design, the range continues upward with the Atlas Copco GA 250 Oil-injected Air Compressor.

GA 200 FAQ
Which pressure version should I choose?
Pick the version closest to the true working pressure of the plant. The five versions from 5.5 to 14 bar each deliver their full capacity at their rated pressure, so matching the rating avoids throttling losses in the network.
What differs between the 50 Hz and 60 Hz tables?
Supply frequency changes the motor rating and slightly shifts the flow figures. The 50 Hz machine is rated in kW and the 60 Hz machine in hp, and both tables reproduce the published data for each market.
Does the GA 200 need a special foundation?
No. The oil-containing frame carries all components, so the unit installs directly on a level industrial floor without a separate foundation.
What does the Full Feature version add?
An integrated refrigerant dryer with a 3°C/37°F pressure dew point, factory-wired and plumbed. It saves the layout space, piping, and installation work of a separate dryer.
How much heat can the machine recover?
Up to 94% of the compressor shaft power, delivered as 85°C to 90°C hot water from the integrated heat exchanger module.
How loud is the GA 200 in operation?
The measured sound pressure level at the workstation is 78 dB(A) for the 50 Hz versions and 76 to 77 dB(A) for the 60 Hz versions.

Our bottling hall runs on the 8.5 bar version, and it covers the peak demand of two filling lines without struggling. The rated 632 l/s at this pressure matches what we read on our own flow meter during full production. The large service doors make the weekly checks straightforward, and the machine stays quiet enough that conversation nearby is easy. Delivery and commissioning went exactly to plan.
