The Atlas Copco GA 110 is a fixed-speed oil-injected rotary screw compressor rated at 110 kW of installed motor power. Five factory versions cover working pressures from 5.5 bar to 14 bar. That makes the GA 110 the entry point of the GA 90+-160 range for plants whose air demand stays level across the day. This page sets out the complete technical data of the machine together with the build details that matter when selecting a compressor in this class.

Each unit arrives as one pre-assembled package on an oil-containing frame, so no separate foundation is needed. The element, gear transmission, coolers, motor, and controller all sit inside a sound-reduced canopy. Every user connection is placed on the same side of the machine, and a phase sequence relay protects the compressor against reverse rotation as standard.

Capacity figures are measured according to ISO 1217, Annex C and E, Edition 4 (2009), at an absolute inlet pressure of 1 bar and an intake temperature of 20°C. Each pressure version is rated at its own reference point. The 8.5 bar version is rated at 7 bar, the 10 bar version at 9.5 bar. The 14 bar version is rated at 13.5 bar in the Standard build or 12.5 bar in the Full Feature build. Full Feature versions carry their own working pressure ratings, from 5.3 bar (77 psig) on the 5.5 bar version up to 13.8 bar (200 psig) on the 14 bar version.

The standard package weighs 3100 kg and the Full Feature package 3493 kg. The A-weighted sound pressure level at the work station is 74 dB(A) at both supply frequencies.

Five Versions from 5.5 to 14 bar

The five factory versions let the GA 110 be matched to the real working pressure of the network instead of compressing to a higher set-point and wasting the difference. The 5.5 bar and 7.5 bar builds suit blowing, conveying, and general plant air. The 8.5 bar and 10 bar builds are the common choices for tools, actuators, and process equipment.

The 14 bar version serves installations with genuine high pressure duties such as molding, batching, and testing. Even at that setting it still produces 239 l/s (506 cfm) at 50 Hz, so a single GA 110 can carry a compact high pressure circuit on its own.

Screw Element and Enclosed Gear Drive

Compression happens in a state-of-the-art screw element with a patented asymmetric rotor profile. Bearings are selected for low wear, and the element keeps its output curve steady over thousands of running hours.

Power reaches the element through a totally enclosed gear transmission that keeps dirt and dust away from the drivetrain. The arrangement transfers power with high efficiency and no coupling or slippage losses, while a dedicated coupling absorbs the thrust load each time the machine cycles between loading and unloading.

The electric motor is a TEFC unit with IP55 protection and Class F insulation with B temperature rise. That construction shields the windings against dust and chemicals and allows continuous operation under severe ambient conditions.

Condensate and Air Purity

A 3-step separation process holds residual oil content below 3 ppm, and an integrated water separator with an electronic drain removes 100% of the condensate formed inside the package. Nothing extra has to be plumbed in at start-up.

Ahead of the element, a heavy duty intake filter captures 99.9% of dirt particles down to 3 microns. Because the fine filter then carries a much lighter dust load, its element lasts about twice as long without any loss of filtration efficiency. Solid metal piping with rigid straight connections reduces the risk of leaks and keeps the package efficient between service stops.

Monitoring with Elektronikon

The GA 110 is managed by the Elektronikon controller. A high resolution color display shows running conditions in plain readings, navigation stays quick through clear icons, and the interface supports 31 languages. Warning indications, shutdown events, and maintenance scheduling are tracked continuously, with built-in remote control and Ethernet communication as standard.

For plants that prefer one point of supervision, the optional ES system controller watches the whole machine room. Dual pressure set-points together with the Delayed Second Stop function keep the drive motor off whenever network pressure still holds, which trims energy use in low-demand periods.

Energy Recovery and High Ambient

An integrated energy recovery system returns up to 94% of the shaft power as useful heat. The output is hot water at 85°C to 90°C (185°F to 194°F), ready for space heating, showers, or process duties. The main heat exchanger module is built into the compressor. Simpler ducting-based recovery directs warmed cooling air toward workshops or storage areas, with louver flaps venting it outside when seasons change.

Factory options extend the operating envelope. A high ambient variant runs up to 55°C/131°F, modulation control is available, and the full option motor adds PT1000 thermal protection and anti-condensation heaters. SPM vibration monitoring can be fitted for continuous condition tracking.

Where the GA 110 Fits

With five pressure versions and a 110 kW motor, the GA 110 covers general manufacturing, automotive workshops, food and beverage lines, and utility rooms. It is aimed at sites that draw a continuous baseline of compressed air. Installations that need more flow can step up to the Atlas Copco GA 250 Oil-injected Air Compressor, which shares the same design platform at 250 kW.

GA 110 FAQ

Which pressure versions does the GA 110 come in?

At 50 Hz there are five versions: 5.5 bar, 7.5 bar, 8.5 bar, 10 bar, and 14 bar. At 60 Hz the versions carry ratings from 80 to 203 psig, all at 150 hp.

How is the motor protected?

The TEFC motor carries IP55 protection with Class F insulation and B temperature rise, so it resists dust and chemicals and runs continuously in severe ambient conditions.

Does the GA 110 need a special foundation?

No. The package stands on an oil-containing frame, so a flat floor is enough.

How long does the fine filter last?

The heavy duty intake filter removes 99.9% of particles down to 3 microns, which roughly doubles the lifetime of the fine filter element.

What happens to the condensate?

An integrated water separator with an electronic drain removes 100% of the condensate formed inside the package.

Can the heat from the GA 110 be reused?

Yes. Up to 94% of the shaft power can be recovered as hot water at 85°C to 90°C, or the warm cooling air can be ducted to heat adjacent spaces.

    Andrea F –

We chose the GA 110 on the 8.5 bar version for our packaging hall, and it has held a steady discharge pressure since day one. The package stays at 74 dB(A), so it sits close to the workstations without any enclosure around it. Filter changes have followed the Elektronikon schedule exactly, and the large doors make each weekly walk-through quick.
